Zarya is a Human, Rogue/Archer so expect some swearing. If you don't like it, don't read this story. Don't say I didn't warn you
Groaning, I sat up in a pile of snow and ice. I placed a hand to my head, trying stem the pain. "Ugh, what happened?" I moaned. "Why am I down here? Last thing I remember I was in Haven..."
*flashback* The attack on Haven-Corypheus calling his Arch Demon-me using the ballista to cause an avalanche- jumping away and falling into a hole to avoid it-darkness and bone chilling cold-then nothing *end flashback*
Tears course down my face as I realize how many people were probably lost in this attack. Shaking my head, I stand and brush snow off my clothes and out of my hair, brownish red locks falling into my face and covering my soft lilac eyes. Looking around, I spy a bit of wood. "Please, let that be my bow with some arrows," I murmur, walking over and pulling it out. Sure enough, it's my bow. Bad part is, the wood is snapped, and the metal is bent. Sighing, I remove the string and pocket it.
"At least that is salvageable. Hopefully my knives will be somewhere around here." I crouch near where I fell and run my hands through the debris. Fingertips brushing cold metal, I zero in on the spot, "Ah ha! There you are my little beauty. Now where is your brother...." Finding my second knife against the wall between some rocks I stick them in my pockets. "Wish I'd had enough time to grab my spare rigging cuz my bag is a total wreck," I mutter walking slowly up the tunnel.
Peaking around the corner I see a group of giant spiders. "Fuck!" I breathe vehemently. "Of all the times for my bow to break, this has to be one of the worst." I take a deep breath, poison my blades, cloak myself, and run up the spiders killing the first and wounding a second before they catch on. Jumping away from a swipe, I dodge a glob of venom and finish off the one I'd wounded. The last spider came up behind me as I was pulling my blade out scoring a hit across my shoulders.
“So wish I'd had time to grab my armor, but why would I wear it during a party?!” Hissing in a breath at the stinging pain, I blindly swipe at the damn thing as I turn, slicing off a leg. Cloaking again, I run behind a stone pillar, softly panting. I flex my shoulders, causing the air to freeze in my lungs. “Shit, I hope this isn't poisoned, or I am seriously fucked.” Taking another deep breath, I poison my blades and cloak once more. Creeping around the corner, I sneak up near the spider, jump on its back, and slam both my blades down, severing its head from the body.
Climbing off the carcass, I continue down the tunnel. The path is long, but I soon see a familiar greenish glow. “Oh, I just have the best of luck! First Corypheus, then my bow, then a nest of giant spiders, and now a Fade Rift. What's next? Will the archdemon be waiting for me outside?” I think sarcastically. Walking resolutely forward, I see a bunch of Wraiths beneath the rift. Suddenly, my mark pulses, and another rift opens, drawing in the shadowy demons. “W. T. F?!” Tightening my grip on my knives, I wait for the next group to spawn. Seeing that it was Wraiths again, I cloak and slip behind some rocks. “If I could call that portal again, then I could easily defeat them,” I muse.
Holding out my hand, I feel a pulling sensation, similar to when I close a rift but different, and then a mass of green appears above the demons, pulling them in and obliterating them. I grin and look up at the rift, "Now, to close that up." I hold out my hand and yank it down closing the small breach. Sighing, I continue to walk quickly, coming to an exit. "NOW I HAVE TO DEAL WITH A FUCKING BLIZZARD!?!" I exclaim, jaw dropping. "Maker's breath and sweet Andraste's ass! What did I do to deserve this?" Grumbling, cursing, and complaining, I make my way into the storm, walking away from the cave, away from Haven, and away from the place that had actually become my home.
